What's the point of a Home Owner's
Association??
Believe it or not, we get asked this question quite often. We have a number of
home owners in Ransom Park that are first-time home buyers. We also have
some that have had no experience, or bad experience with homeowner's
associations.
When you purchased your home in Ransom Park, you automatically joined
the Ransom Park Homeowner's Association (RPHOA). Membership in the
RPHOA is a condition of purchase of your home. As long as you own a home
in Ransom Park, you are a member of the association and you are obligated
to pay dues.
There are some things that we are actually required to do. They are:

- Maintain the common grounds of the association (mowing, etc).
- Maintain insurance on the common grounds.
- Collect dues.
- Maintain an active association by performing the duties above, and
maintaining filings with local and state agencies.
We do, however, go well beyond the minimum requirements. Ransom Park
H.O.A.'s primary goals are to:
- Make sure that our neighborhood is a great place to live and enjoy life.
- Keep our neighborhood beautiful.
- Make sure that Ransom Park is a safe place to live.
- Help the homes in Ransom Park retain their value.
- Build a sense of community
How do we achieve these objectives?
Even though the RPHOA Board of Directors does not get paid for any of the
services we perform, we are all residents of Ransom Park. We have a
vested interest in achieving all of our objectives!
- We keep the Ransom Park home owners abreast of neighborhood
activities through regular communication.
- We enforce our Ransom Park declarations and restrictive covenants
through regular communication with neighbors and when necessary,
assessments and liens.
- We work with our local city councilman to make sure that our voices
are heard.
- We pro-actively work with local law enforcement agencies to try to
address problems before they occur.
- We work with the appropriate Metro Nashville-Davidson agencies,
such as Public Works, to make sure that our needs for basic city
services are met.
Even though the RPHOA Board of Directors does not get paid for any of the
services we perform, we are all residents of Ransom Park. We have a
vested interest in achieving all of our objectives!
